I know it is a silly name (since all cookers are thermal) but that is what I am looking for. I found them demonstrated on youtube but they only seem to be available in the USA. A thermal cooker is a pot with a matching insulated container. It is a high tech hay box cooker. One boils up the contents and then transfers the pot to the insulated container for the few hours it takes to complete the cooking. This results in a huge saving in energy. I doubt they are any more efficient than a hay box but they are a lot smaller. Has anyone seen one for sale on these islands or knows who makes them? While I was surfing about I found reference to cooking vessels with insulated sides and lid. Again, the energy saving potential is obvious but how to get my mits on one less so.
