This arrived this morning and I spent the day figuring out how to support it over the new water tanks and whether it needs any special attachments and/or connectors. In the end I dunked it into the little rainwater butt and wiggled the handle up and down a bit, and blimey! loads of water came out. It was easy, no great muscle power required, no priming or starting off slow, just a sudden unexpected sort of flood. it is cast iron and you can get it at machine mart or clarkes online for about £45. Too cheap, must be using child labour or something. I don't feel so ethical now. I do love the cute little pump though. It goes with the victorian mangle. Both are normally used as quaint old garden features around here, so they won't have to be hidden from any stuck up neighbours either.
