When my daughter still lived at home I made her some really posh curtains. They are red silk dupion, which looks luxurious and expensive. I put lining on them, and to make them really smart, I attached something called interlining, which goes between the main fabric and the regular lining and is very light in weight. My son sleeps there now, and I have noticed they don't let in any light at all into the room when they are closed, and they give much better heat insulation than the other curtains we have. They weigh less than regular curtains, and cost a lot less too.
