The first 2000 customers to register with NIE's new EnergyOnline service gets a free enery monitor (supposedly) worth £60.
Seems to be lots of benefits and additional info on the EnergyOnline site. Note that this online service commits you to paperless billing - Paperless billing is probably safer given that a paper utility bill can be misappropriated and used for identity fraud.
I registered this morning and got an email to say my energy monitor is on its way.

Jus received the free Owl wireless energy monitor this weekend. Original version not the micro version. Haven't checked it out yet.
I plan to post up a few notes on what the device does, and how it compares to my own DIY energy monitor, over the next few weeks in case anyone else is interested in getting one of these free from NIE.
Worth noting that, as with most of these types of promotional offers, the monitor retails at about £30 on amazon and not the £60 stated by NIE! The 'overvaluation' is of no real significance however if the thing serves the intended purpose, which is to increase one's awareness of which how much energy one's appliances are using.
