and clearing away some of the soil to see where the tubers have been growing... yes, the vast majority have grown around the sides of the pot. Attachments:

and i washed the roots just to see (i don't intend doing this with all the plants!).. that black tuber is the original seed tuber as supplied by tphase. strange though that the source tuber, whilst it has turned black, is still very solid indeed (unlike seed potatoes). i wonder will it sprout again next season.... and the final product.. 35g of new ocas for 5g of seed tuber, that's a yield of 7 fold. not bad for planting late in the season in an old pot in a relatively dark spot of the garden during the worst year for slugs i've ever seen! a big thank you to tphase for telling us about ocas and giving us some seed tubers - I think these are great. we'll try eating some this evening!
