Hi all,
I just finished reading a book called 'How I lived a year on just a pound a day' by Kath Kelly, published by Redcliff Press ltd ISBN 9781906593124.
Its about this girl Kath who decided to live for a year on a pound a day except for her rent, except for a few friends she didn't tell anyone untill half way through the year. Her main motivation was so that she could save up enough to buy her brother a nice wedding gift.
It isn't a big 'how to' book as such, it is in fact a bit light on details but it does give a good insight into how her thought processes changed over the year. I think it really does make you think a bit about all the stuff that we spend our money on, usually without thinking about it, and wheter we really need it.
I thought it was a good read, well written and fairly easy and quick to get through.
My wife is reading it now, but if after she has finished anyone would like to borrow it then let me know and i'll post it out to you.
Jim
